Born in 1977, Alex Donov is the CFO of the Kusto Group and one of the few senior executives to have worked elsewhere before meeting and starting to work with Yerkin in June 2002. On graduating from Kazakhstan National University in 1999, he joined a leading local investment company in Almaty where he managed the investment project department, acquiring former Soviet assets and developing new companies.
On meeting Yerkin he left his previous employer to be his project finance director. In that role he helped develop business processes, upgrade technology and improve efficiency.
In 2008, Alex became CFO of the Kusto Group and was based in Almaty, Kazakhstan until 2013 when the group moved its headquarters to Singapore.
He is on the board of Kusto’s Agriculture division in Ukraine and KazPetrol Group in Kazakhstan.
He is married with three children. When not working he pursues the outdoors life, hiking and camping with his family. He is also part of the Kusto book and film chatroom group, preferring business and fiction books.
Alex holds a BSc in Physics, an MBA in International Business from the Russian Presidential Academy for National Economics and Public Administration, and an International Management Certificate of Management Accounting. He speaks fluent Russian and English.
