Talgat is one of the four founding partners of the Kusto Group.
He began his career at Arthur Andersen in Almaty as an auditor in 1995 after graduating from Kazakhstan University. In 2000 he began an MBA at Warwick University where his dissertation was on diversified business models. At that time he was also a member of the Financial Institutions Association and helped develop with the National Bank of Kazakhstan national banking, accounting and auditing standards and was an advisor on legislative changes.
In 2002 he starting working with Yerkin on a variety of projects, helping to develop the legal structure of the group and set up partnership agreements. In 2005 he became head of investor relations focusing on mergers and acquisitions.
Talgat moved to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in 2011 to manage Kusto Vietnam, which has rapidly grown to become a core division within the group. Since 2015 he has been based in Singapore, where Kusto Group has its headquarters. He serves on the boards of Kusto Agro, Kusto Vietnam and Kusto Real Estate Vietnam.
Born in 1971, he is married with four children. He enjoys hunting and fishing, sport and reading and works hard to balance family life with his responsibilities at Kusto. He speaks Kazakh, Russian and English fluently and basic Vietnamese and German and is a member of the Chamber of Auditors of Kazakhstan.
